Record Grading
Every record and jacket is inspected and graded individually. Any notable wear, damage, writing, surface noise, or other issues will be included in the listing.
HOW GRADES ARE SHOWN
Grades are listed in this order:
Record / Jacket
For example, VG+ / VG means the record is graded Very Good Plus and the jacket is graded Very Good.
NM — NEAR MINT
An exceptionally clean copy with little to no visible wear. The record should play with minimal surface noise. The jacket may show only the lightest signs of handling.
VG+ — VERY GOOD PLUS
A well-cared-for copy with minor signs of use. The record may have light surface marks that do not significantly affect playback. The jacket may have light edge, corner, or shelf wear.
VG — VERY GOOD
A solid playing copy with visible signs of use. Some surface noise may be heard, especially during quieter passages, but the record should play without persistent skipping.
The jacket may show moderate wear, writing, splitting, staining, or other flaws described in the listing.
G+ — GOOD PLUS
A heavily used but playable copy. Surface noise and wear will be noticeable. The jacket may have significant wear or damage.
Records in this condition are listed only when the music, pressing, or price still makes the copy worthwhile.
PLAY CHECKING
Records are visually inspected under bright light and play-checked when the condition, pressing, or visible marks call for it.
Grading is conservative, but used records are individual objects. A grade describes the overall condition, while the listing notes describe the exact copy for sale.
